I really need to refinance to pay down credit debt. I am eligible for disability (low interest) refinancing but unless co-title holder signs banks wont let me refinance. I don’t want to divorce just to get out from under but I cant sell my house or refinance. There MUST be some option or resource to help me?

  1. Without her signature, you’re out of luck on a refinance.

  2. where is she? can’t you overnight the paper work and have her sign them

  3. ‘Wife unreachable for indefinite period’… abandonment? Get a divorce based on that, then if /when your wife shows back up explain that you had to do that in order to sign the paperwork to get enough breathing room to live.

Debt begats more debt. If you dont do this soon, you might be eating beans out of a can sitting on the road in front of what used to be your house until you couldnt afford to pay for it anymore.

If she loves you, she will understand. If your wife is mad, its her own fault for being unreachable and leaving her affairs with loose ends.

  4. Just do what they tell you — wife must sign the installment contract…Take the papers and pick up a notary to watch her sign. Your all set…

  5. I’m really sorry to hear about your situation but there is an answer… Well it does seem like your in need of what is called a power of attorney. You can pick one up at office depot or you can even print one from online. If you can’t get in contact with your spouse I’m not sure how you are going to get them to sign it but I’m pretty sure you can figure that one out. Once you get that signed you can refinance or sell your house without having the other person present. You can actually sign for both parties as long as you have a power of attorney signed and notarized. Good luck and I hope my advice was enough to help you out

  6. Why can’t you reach your wife? If you have no idea where she is, then it seems like it’s time for a divorce buddy.
She’s NOT going to sign because you want to include your debt into the mortgage – she owns half that house and would be an idiot if she agreed to let you do this. She’d effectively be paying half your debt because you just took away the equity that was building. Be prepared for a battle.

  7. If the “wife” is unreachable then you need a divorce to protect what you do have and to get the refi….
